Utilities & Piping Engineering Manager

Ideal Candidate

For our client, a top producer of thermal insulation solutions, we are recruiting a Utilities & Piping Engineering Manager, based in Roumania and with availability for international travelling, to support the construction of production sites. This specialist will oversee all utilities and piping activities, working closely with both the design team and the project execution team.

Requirements:

• Academic degree in mechanical or process engineering;
• Experienced (5-10 years) in the engineering and/or project management of large Capital Investment Projects (€10-50Mios)- EPC or MEP experience;
• Experience in leading teams of direct reports or subcontractors;
• Good command of Microsoft Office and familiarity with design tools (Auto Cad, Revit, Plant 3D, etc.);
• Proficient in English, additional language is an advantage;
• Scheduling and planning experience and knowledge of specific tools- MS Project;
• Experience in negotiating contracts;
• Communication and presentation skills;
• During construction, all project staff should be located on site (Europe & outside), and there will be around 30-40% work related travels.

Job Description

• Contributing as a team member in the construction of production sites;
• Being accountable for utilities & piping works delivery, ensuring budget, schedule and quality targets are met;
• Closely collaborating with the Project Manager to support overall project delivery;
• Acting as an interface between design, procurement and construction teams;
• Organising and leading weekly meetings between the company’s project management team and utilities & piping contractors;
• Maintaining proper design documentation, including numbering and revision control;
• Leading technical meetings such as P&IDs, design sessions and underground systems reviews;
• Facilitating and expediting technical clarifications and waivers related to utilities & piping engineering;
• Managing project interfaces and harmonising all project WBS elements during engineering and execution phases;
• Helping establish the project procurement strategy for the assigned packages;
• Preparing tender packages (incl. technical descriptions, attachments, specifications);
• Setting up in conjunction with the Commercial Manager the budget and the cost reporting procedures for the project;
• Ensuring project progress remains in line with the stakeholder approved schedule;
• Staying completely familiar with project documentation and procedures to uphold the required quality standards;
• Being accountable in ensuring that the whole team follows the site rules, in terms of HSE standards.
• Preparing weekly reports for the management team
